Open Season

I have watched Sarah Palin since the day John McCain announced her in August of 2008 as his running mate. The more I have learned of her, the more I have seen her responses, her ideas and actions, the more impressed I have been with her.

And yet, the media has been unconscionably hypocritical in dealing with her. A lot of people use the word 'unconscionable'. I really mean it. This has been a violation of human conscience and dignity. It has been completely immoral and reprehensible.

They know this, and blithely act as if they are unaware of the wickedness of their attitudes and actions and pretend as if it is just the normal way they treat anyone. More's the pity.

Do you all understand WHY she stepped down? You don't? Really? Didn't you hear her speech? She explained it in plain English!

Members of the far left have been using typical dirty tricks that misuse the legal system to destroy her and bankrupt her and her state. Private citizens can file charges against people in office or against legal entities, with no fear of consequence or responsibility for expense. All of the expense goes to the one accused. Even if they prove the charge was completely baseless, they have to pay the enormous legal fees and the lying scum that brought the charges have to pay zilch. No accountability.

Multiple suits have been brought against her, ALL OF THEM DISMISSED AS FRIVOLOUS, wasting millions of dollars for the state of Alaska, and hundreds of thousands for the Palin family. She could no longer do her job without harm coming to her state.

When I heard her speak on Friday, July 3, 2009, I turned to my wife and said, "Dear Lord, she is painting a bullseye on those doing this, and on the media, and going after them!"

You see, what she can't do as a public official, she CAN do as a private citizen, to address the injustices that have been continually levied against her.

And that is how this cartoon came to be as a result of what we saw on July 3rd, 2009.

It's hunting season, And there is no limit. May her hunt be a good one!

You shouldn't lie on your blog. Google "Troopergate" She was found guilty of ethic violations. Here is the report.

I know FACTS are inconvenient for a cartoonist but that doesn't change them.

Hey Kevin, just so you'll know, I haven't forgotten your laughable comment. I just have too much of real life concerns to give it the response it deserves. I do have a serious response that refutes your position. The question is whether you will seriously consider it, or just act out a partisan knee-jerk reaction.

Meanwhile, a question for you. Have you actually read that report that you cite? I did. Quite a long time ago in fact. You might be surprised at what all else it says, even though it did find a problem to report.

You accuse me of lying. For that to be true, I would have to have believed that one report was the end of the matter and made my statement anyway (and would have to believe that the wrongdoing she did was worthy of such vehement condemnation as others like you pour out on her). That is not the case. So, you must not be aware that the Alaska Personnel Board later cleared her of any wrongdoing. Otherwise, I can accuse you of lying too. But I won't do that. I won't assume bad things about you for being a liberal, as you do of me for being a conservative supporter of Palin.

In otherwords, is a fair and civil discussion possible?

Btw, I am not really a cartoonist. Nothing I have ever done has been published, and I haven't done much at all. It is just a hobby, and once in while I think of something that would actually be drawable and relevant.

A bipartisan vote found Palin guilty of ethics violations based on the Branchflower report. The McCain campaign interfered and had the Troopergate matter handled by the Personnel Board, a 3 member committee favorable to Palin. This Board cleared Palin of the ethics charge but Todd and Sarah Palin remain guilty in the eyes of many Alaskans and most thinking American's too. You are defending the in defendable.

Sigh. I am sorry to hear you say that, Kevin. How come when I ask a liberal if they have read something, they rarely ever answer the question?

You say I am defending the indefensible. Amazing. If you read the actual report and all the comments and statements, they make it clear that they wanted her to recuse herself from this precisely because of what happened. They acknowledge it is because she was trying to protect family and others from someone who was a true sleazeball, and they doubted anyone could walk that line carefully enough, who had so much at stake personally. They were right.

So, by attacking her, you end up defending the sleazeball!

Now, if she had from there, continued to do things that indicated she did not learn from what happened, you might have had a case, and I would have joined you.

I suspect your motive is the same as the DNC: merely to find ANY dirt and exploit it, strictly for partisan advantage, and not out of any real sense of right and wrong, or desire for always supporting only the most squeaky clean candidates. They searched, and this was the worst they could find on her!!

There is a way you can prove your motives are sincere and not merely partisan.

If you research it, you will find that generally, there are more Democrats answering to charges of real corruption and wrongdoing than Republicans. You will also find that the wrongdoings are usually (not always) more severe on the Democrat side than those committed by the Republicans.

Have you actively sought to oppose those Democrats who are guilty of truly heinous corruption and scandal? If not, then you are merely acting out of partisanship, and can be considered irrelevant. If you HAVE opposed corruption wherever you find it, to the same degree you seem to be concerned with opposing Sarah Palin, and can prove it to me, you will have my apology and encouragement to continue to hold your party to a high standard.

Believe me, if anything genuinely scandalous were to be discovered about Ms. Palin that demonstrated a deep moral character flaw, I and many other conservatives would remove our support so fast, it would make one's head spin.

Here is the real kicker, when genuine stupidity and abominable moral judgement rears its head in conservative public servants, the majority of us conservatives DO oppose them (sadly, not all of us, but definitely the majority of us). For example, there are a whole lot of us in the Carolinas who are still telling Mark Sandford to give it up and go away. We regularly kick out politicians guilty of real corruption.

On the other hand, when liberal public servants display really outrageous moral flaws, the Democrats usually (there are some happy exceptions amongst them) continue to elect them for life! For example, Murtha, Kennedy, Rangel, Frank and Dodd. Each of them have faced horrible charges, and yet continue to be elected to office, and often even protected from repercussions by other Congressional Democrat leaders.

THAT is truly indefensible. Where do you stand on that?

You wonder it seems why Palin recieves the kind of scorn usually reserved for people who can’t put two coherent sentences together, but write books.
Palin personifies all that is wrong with a political system that allows for anyone so obviously incompetent to rise within its ranks, a political party so devoid of circumspection it would not merely allow such a person to come within a heartbeat of the presidency, but would actively support her political aspirations.
Palin is as ill-informed as it is possible to be in today’s environment of easy info. She is an unethical hypocrite who lacks any empathy for her fellow citizens, who has often used her political clout as a means to destroy her perceived enemies and enrich herself financially. She reduced her own children to mere props when it is politically expedient.

Her rise in popularity among the right was a follow-up to the Bush years when abject stupidity was passed off as down home charm, ignorance of world events was accepted as a sign of being just simple folk, and stubbornness and an incapacity to admit mistakes was lauded as a strength

Even W, in his glory days, never went so far as to profess to see Russia from one’s front porch as experience in international affairs Maybe he just never had the maverickitude that would allow for making such outlandish statements and expecting them to be not only believed, but embraced.

W also lacked something that Sarah has in spades – her talent for playing the role of the persecuted victim. if W had been endowed with Sarah’s tits, he could have persuaded a lot more of the populace that his detractors were not merely unpatriotic observers who pointed to his ineptitude, but die-hard conspirators out to silence the very voice of reasoned democracy – and, in the doing, sought to besmirch the good name of a fair maiden deserving of more genteel treatment.

Sarah d’Arc can throw herself on the pyre of persecution at a moment’s notice, and field dress a moose on her way to the conflagration.

Palin, to her credit never allows anything to stand in her way: not the truth, not the facts, not current events as they play themselves out, not history as it is known to have unfolded. Saucy Sarah simply creates her own reality – replete with things that never happened, or happened to the contrary of how she spins the tale – and smiles into the camera as her idolizing group of fans swoon to her rendition not of how things were or are, but how they are perceived in her own little world.

Her political image created by half-truths and out-and-out lies, coupled with creative embellishment of questionable skills and accomplishments and ignorance that is not only blissful but a source of blatant pride – all neatly packaged in smoke-and-mirrors, a party-funded wardrobe, and presented to the world as the real deal – Sarah has come to represent all that is abhorrent in today’s political landscape, and deserves to be treated accordingly.

To hear her minions tell it, Sarah is the only woman to have given birth to a special-needs child, to have “dealt with” a teen-aged daughter’s pregnancy, to have smilingly survived the slings-and-arrows of a media that had the audacity to actually ask questions and expect a few answers.

Unfortunately for Sarah, she took these “truths” about herself to be self-evident, while the rest of the country, and the world, saw her for what she was – a shallow, vain, inept opportunist too wrapped up in her own ego to notice that she’d served her purpose the minute she accepted the GOP vice presidential nomination as the proud owner of a vagina – no further credentials necessary.

Amazingly She is now the face of everything the Republican Party wants us to forget its association with: right-wing religious extremists, lying hypocrites, ignorant-and-proud-of-it spokespeople who so obviously have less than nothing to say.

The Media is eating it up with all the fervour reserved for other stories of equal substance – like the ballon boy.

Her success is not yours, but mine.

You betcha!
